The main thing you should look for in a tablet is the screen. I wouldn’t spend over $160 for? anything less than a good quality capacitive screen. That’s why the Nook is so popular. At <$200, you can’t find a better screen. The Viewsonic GTablet, Dell Streak 7 and 7″ Samsung Galaxy Tab have good value in the lower $200 range. Hope this helps.
@smartinez281 With that said, though, I just sold? this tablet. It was frustrating to find out that Pandigital was releasing the Nova and SuperNova so soon after releasing the Planet. I will most likely upgrade to the SuperNova for the 8″ screen and 512MB. The screen should perform better outdoors, and the extra RAM will allow for better multitasking.
Overall, I was very happy with this product. Although,? it all depends on what you will use the tablet for. I used it strictly indoors, and mostly for the HDMI capabilities. Web browsing and watching HD movies and netflix on my big LCD was great. Playing intense games, running lots of apps at once, and reading in direct sunlight was not so great. Value-wise, this tablet stands tall in the <$150 range.
So overall,are you happy with this product? I have been thinking on getting a tablet because I want to read my pdf files (computer magazines and books) on the go. It sucks reading them on a tiny phone screen. I WAS going to get me a nook and root it,but for? about the same price I figure I can get the planet with the added cams and mic.
Yes it can. I’ve installed yahoo messaging. Its video chat capabilities work great. The only problem is the video on the other end of line is upside down. I’m sure a firmware update from either pandigital or yahoo will fix that. Skype is also close to working on this device. Look for another video from me soon. I’ll demonstrate improved speed and? responsiveness, HDMI output, HD video playback, and Netflix!
